Wainwright Challenge in aid of 3 local charities
In 2018 I aim to complete all the Wainwrights (the hills from the Lakeland Fells guide by Alfred Wainwright) within the calendar year. There are 214 tops so it will mean a decent amount of uphill! Some people complete them every year, some people never go up a single one, but this is a challenge for me, I'm not the quickest and some days I really struggle to get motivated to get out as work can take over. I have a full time job including working 1 in 4 weekends on call so I will have to have some weekends away from the fells. When I am out though I love it (as does my dog Clova) and the views are to die for. I would like to raise some money for charity whilst doing this and I hope some people reading this will be kind enough to donate. The charities I am supporting are Animal Concern Cumbria, Oak Tree Animals' Charity and Mountain Rescue for Cumbria. The two animal charities are charities I work with on a regular basis and I feel both try their best to care for the unwanted animals of Cumbria. I wish they weren't needed but sadly they are. The Lake District Search and Mountain Rescue teams do a fantastic job of making a very dangerous environment a bit safer for those of us that love the outdoors.
