Description
Meet charming Josh, this handsome boy has been with us for nearly 2 years and deserves to find his forever home.
Josh is very interactive and loves learning new things. He enjoys doing agility, hoopers and mantrailing (see Josh in action in the Instagram links further down). He also makes a great co-worker and enjoys coming and spending time in the Small Animal Team office, overseeing what we do! After a busy day of playing, training and supervising us he likes to take himself off for a well deserved nap.
Josh can find meeting new people overwhelming however, with a little time and patience (and most importantly biscuits!) he does come round and once he knows you he is a big cuddle monster! He has been regularly meeting new people whilst in our care and has made lots of new friends.
Josh has also been making friends with some of our dogs here onsite, He has enjoyed going on walks with them and has also had a few playdates with his sister Rogan! We believe he has the potential to live with a medium/large size relaxed dog depending on successful meetings. He is a big lad weighing in at 30kg, he can be strong but generally walks nicely on the lead.
If you're on the lookout for a loving, loyal and energetic companion then look no further, put in your enquiry for Josh today!
Updates
21/01/2025 - Josh has recently spent the night away with one of the members of the small animal team! He has been in the kennels for a staggering 580 days which makes him our longest current resident.
“While Josh was on his sleepover we discovered how calm he is in a home environment, he is a sofa boy who loves cuddles. After being in kennels for so long it was a surreal experience to see him walk around a home, you could see in his eyes he was exploring everything like it was for the first time. He settled very quickly and barely made any noise even when hearing cars and people walk past. He became a big shadow wanting to take an interest in me wherever I went! While out for a short walk we saw a couple people and a dog which he was more interested in sniffing which was amazing! When dinner time came, he watched me but was not pushy at wanting food then at bedtime he settled well and only got up for the odd stretch, this boy could be an amazing dog for someone with time, patience and a lot of love.”

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED
On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
