Description
Rogan finds the world very exciting but also scary and overwhelming, she has some big feelings and needs an owner who can help her navigate these.
This young lady is looking for a quiet home in a semi-rural or rural location with a secure garden. As she is very excitable she needs a calm environment with someone home often. Rogan walks nicely on the lead however she is a strong little lady and adopters would need to be prepared for this.
Rogan needs a bit of time to become comfortable around new people, she would benefit from a home without too many unfamiliar visitors or a home with her own space she can go while visitors are round. She can be introduced to people who would be round regularly with a little time and patience.
Once Rogan knows you she is a friend for life, she loves sitting on your knee and having cuddles. She greets everyone she knows with excitement whether it's been a week since she has seen you or an hour!
She is one smart cookie who loves learning and showing off her new skills in return for treats. She has been learning some agility with our behaviour team and has loved it, she also enjoys hoopers and mantrailing.
Rogan needs someone who is willing to continue her training using positive reinforcement and potential adopters should be prepared to need multiple viewings with Rogan.
She has the potential to live with a relaxed dog and older children (15+) depending on successful visits here at Oak Tree.
Updates
- Rogan has been getting introduced to some of our volunteers and is doing great meeting new people, she is still nervous and needs a couple meetings before she is comfortable but has been enjoying spending time with her new friends.
- Rogan had a lovely morning out at Watchtree with her caseworker and our dog trainer. She had a great time sniffing around, looking through the bird watching windows and posing next to some signs. Watchtree was very busy with cyclists and dog walkers but Rogan was very focused on her handlers the whole time.
- Rogan had a trip to B&Q, she enjoyed playing house in the kitchen showroom and having a photoshoot with the plants, followed by a stop off at pets at home for her to pick out a new toy. She was on her best behaviour throughout and was able to stay focused on her handlers.

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED
On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
