Description
We would like to introduce you to Princess Xena,
This stunning girl came to us as a stray so we know very little about her history.
Xena is a little shy of new people but as she gets to know us, we are seeing a more playful and interactive personality. She really is a lovely girl. Although she can be nervous at times, she shows willingness to engage with people although she looks to her ‘person’ for reassurance.
Xena is mostly calm on her walks but can be strong when she gets excited, for example, when she sees another dog, so will need a confident handler. She enjoys her walks and will benefit from an active home that loves to spend time with their dog outdoors. She will need regular training and interaction.
We have been walking Xena with other dogs. This is ongoing as we are currently assessing her dog interactions. At the moment, we feel she could have dog walking companions but may prefer to live on her own.
Xena is always keen to toilet away from her kennel but we don't know if she is fully house trained, so this is something potential adopters would need to consider and work on.
Xena is new to us, therefore we are still getting to know her. We know Xena has Cane Corso in her breeding but potentially there is something else there too. She is just over 3 years old and is around 28kg. Xena is slightly underweight and is gaining weight in our care. However, typically a Cane Corso female weighs between 40-45kg. We do not anticipate she will reach that weight. While she is on the smaller size, she is a strong lady at times so will need someone who is used to handling a strong dog.
Any potential adopters should research the Cane Corso breed and read up on their characteristics. You will need to be aware of any potential guarding due to her mix therefore someone with a secure garden is essential.
As we have no history, we are not homing Xena with children under 17 or with cats. She will need a secure garden and adopters who do not need to leave her unattended for long.
She is a big softie who enjoys sunbathing.

***Due to Xena still being new to us she is still under assessment, therefore her requirements for re-homing may change. Please check back regularly to her profile to see if anything has changed***

WE HAVE MORE DOGS IN NEED
On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our dogs looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
