Description

Meet Daisy!

Daisy is a 14hh mare who was born on site at Oak Tree in 2020. After learning basic handling and being successfully weaned, Daisy went out to a foster home where she continued to grow and learn. This Spring she came back to Oak Tree to begin her ridden career.

Daisy has a kind nature, however, is easily startled and takes an enormous amount of confidence from her rider. Although she can be lazy in the school Daisy is forward to hack out. She loves going in the field for a trot and a canter and does not become strong or overexcited but can nap to the gate especially if on her own. Daisy is happy to be ridden at the front or behind and is happy to pass cars and cyclists but is wary of large or rattly vehicles. We found its best to stand out of the way and allow her to watch the traffic come past.

As she is still growing it is important for Daisy to be doing lots of hacking and work in large spaces rather than schooling to help prevent damage to her developing muscles and body.

Daisy loves a fuss and is good to groom, bath, catch but can be strong to lead at times. She stands for both farrier and vet and is good to load and travel.

Currently Daisy is living out overnight with mares but gets on well with geldings too. Daisy can be stabled however has been known to jump over the stable door! Since being back at Oak Tree she has not attempted to jump out but would need to be monitored in her new home and potentially have her door altered to prevent this.

Daisy will need an experienced home as she is a young horse and still needs producing.

WE HAVE MORE HORSES AND PONIES IN NEED

On average, we have 400 animals come into our shelter every year. Please take a look at some of our horses and ponies looking for loving homes and see if you can find a friend for life. Where appropriate, all of our animals are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. We also give each animal a behavioural assessment to identify their needs and help you find your perfect companion.
