Nutmeg

Description

Nutmeg is a three-year-old cob mare. She arrived at Oak Tree in January 2023 along with Saffron and Juniper! Nutmeg has overcome a lot in the year she has been here. Learning to accept head collaring, handling and leading. Throughout this learning curve we have seen Nutmegs personality come alive and her true character start to show.

 Nutmeg is good to catch, head collar and lead, she is happy to be groomed all over and she stands very well for the farrier. Nutmeg can become overwhelmed when it comes to having the vet and dislikes being wormed. Using positive reinforcement in Nutmegs training is helping her overcome the situations she finds the most challenging, ultimately resulting in a more desirable behaviour.

Nutmeg can live in or out with access to a suitable field shelter. She currently lives out in a mixed herd of youngsters.

Nutmeg can be cautious of new people; with time she comes around and shows a friendly and soft nature. Nutmeg would best suit a home that can further her education. Nutmeg is a good doer and would require careful turn out to ensure she doesn’t become overweight.
